FYUP: Polls promise good news for DU students

Young Delhiites upbeat as both BJP and AAP promise in their manifestos that they’ll revoke DU’s four-year course rule if they come to power.

As Delhi goes to polls tomorrow, there seems to be a ray of hope for ­students who are enrolled in the Four Year Undergraduate Programme, or FYUP.

As the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have included in their respective manifestos the promise of revoking FYUP and reversing it to the three-year programme, students are hopeful that they won’t have to face the four-year heat anymore.

For the uninitiated, DU implemented the four-year ­programme from July 2013, and it has not gone down well with the students as they feel it’s a waste of one year for them, even as the University claims that this system has more ­flexibility and a wider range of subjects to choose from.
