When her friends were jumping with joy, 15-year-old Pia Gupta, was calm and composed. The excitement of getting to know the CBSE class 10 results had already worn off.
It has been over a month since she had appeared for her final exam. However, her third rank at the all-India level did come as a surprise.
“I knew the results were going to come, so I was mentally prepared” said Gupta, a resident of South City-2.
Her subjects of choice for class 11 include physics, chemistry and mathematics. Although she is still undecided on exactly what she wants to pursue in college, for now she is happy that she will get another opportunity to spend more time with mathematics.
Gupta packed in close to six hours of self-study before her CBSE examinations.
On other days, when she had to attend school, her study time was reduced to two to four hours. During her spare time, she indulged in painting and swimming.
“Pia and Yatee broke our school record. It is their dedication that has paid off. Next year, our aim is to top at the national level,” said Shalini Aggarwal, the school’s course coordinator.
