The petition claimed that despite assurance to the court, as many as 1,925 vacant posts of teachers in private-aided colleges were not being filled.

Petitioner Jagwant Singh had submitted that in October 2014, the high court had disposed of a petition seeking filling of vacant posts in these colleges after the state government came out with a plan stating that the recruitment would be made in a phased manner in three years.

But till March 2015, the government had filled only 109 posts and that, too, on contract, the court was told. The reply has been sought from the state government by December 8.
