With nearly one lakh students expected to apply for a total of 49,000 seats in Delhi University this year, we get you the most sought after courses this season.
Out of 63 colleges in Delhi University 54 colleges are offering this course. The cut offs for this course goes the highest as this is one of the most sought after courses in DU. SRCC is the most prestigious college for pursuing BCom Honours.
The other sought after colleges for this course are Hindu, Hans Raj, Lady Shri Ram, and Sri Venkateswara. In any of the popular colleges expect the cut offs for this course to be more than 90 per cent. For students from non-commerce background it can get even higher.
Recession or boom time, Economics Honours has always been the course that attracts the maximum number of students. The prestigious SRCC and St. Stephen’s are known to be the two most popular colleges for this course. Last year the cut-off for Economics honours at SRCC was around 95 per cent. Hindu, Hansraj, Lady Shri Ram had high cut-offs as well (94 per cent was last year’s cut off). Even the CBSE topper Subhashish Bhadra wants to pursue this course — from either SRCC or St. Stephen’s.
No course has seen as much rage as English Honours. Lady Shri Ram (LSR) and St. Stephen’s are the two most popular colleges for this course. Last year’s first cut off for LSR was 93 per cent. This year, students will have to appear for CATE (Common Aptitude Test for English) for some of the colleges in Delhi University. Other popular colleges for English Honours are Miranda House, Jesus & Mary College and Hindu college.
Students, who might have missed the cut off for other course, but have scored whopping 95 plus in Maths might just get a chance to get enrolled in this course. This is a popular choice for students wanting to pursue MBA in future. Hindu, Hans Raj, Sri Venkateswara and St. Stephen’s are well known for their Maths honours course.
The mushrooming of various media houses has made this the new rage. One of the few professional courses in Delhi University, there are only a few colleges offering this course. Lady Shri Ram College is the most popular college for this course. Other colleges offering this are Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kalindi College and Kamla Nehru College.
