Aditi Parashar was just like any other Delhi University student enjoying her BA history (hons) programme from Khalsa College. She had managed to score 65% overall in the first year, but history was more of a hobby for her. The media world was what really fascinated her.

Soon she got to know about BTech in humanities at the Cluster Innovation Centre. “I thought it was fascinatingly unrealistic keeping in mind the Indian education system. The flexibility seemed to be hypothetical but I had faith that if it worked out, it was going to do wonders,” says Parashar.

This gave her a chance to study for two papers at Lady Shri Ram College from BA journalism (hons) and opt for two papers from St Stephen’s College from its BA English (hons) course. “I plan to design my degree with my major in journalism with a minor in psychology and economics too,” she says.

In semesters two to seven, students can choose courses to specialise in a streams such as journalism, education, historical tourism, counselling and art and design. This concept also fascinated Asmita Punia. “I initially took admission in BCom (hons) at Gargi College, during which I got to know about this course. We did a a hands-on project along with our four subjects. I chose a project on the Gandhian model of communication which essentially researched non-violent communication,” says Punia.
