The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indira Gandhi National OpenUniversity (IGNOU) to offer more textile- and apparel-related courses. Under the agreement, the two partners propose to offer a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA. The MoU calls for utilising AEPC’s Apparel Training and Design Centres (ATDCs) across India, to provide vocational education. AEPC director-general for education and training initiatives Darlie Koshy and IGNOU registrar US Tolia signed the MoU.
Also present were AEPC chairman Rakesh Vaid and IGNOU vice-chancellor Rajasekharan Pillai.
“The tie-up will lead to the offer of certificate, diploma and degree programmes in a modular manner between IGNOU and the ATDCs and the Institute of Apparel Management,” said Koshy of the MoU goals.
