Cloud computing is touted as the next big thing in the IT infrastructure space. Since it is still an evolving market, there are hardly any full-time courses exclusively on cloud computing.

Cloud computing is touted as the next big thing in the IT infrastructure space. Since it is still an evolving market, there are hardly any full-time courses exclusively on cloud computing. However, most B Tech (IT, computer science, etc) and M Sc (software engineering, computer science, and so on) courses offer modules on basics of cloud computing and its practical applications. NIIT and IIJT (Indian institute of Job Training) offer some certificate courses on the subject. For instance, GNIIT in cloud computing and IT management is one such programme. The programme helps aspirants acquire skills on configuring, troubleshooting, managing, operating, administering and monitoring IT infrastructure, says Udai Singh, executive vice president, NIIT Ltd.

IIJT also offers a number of associate and expert level courses on topics ranging from network infrastructure and monitoring a private cloud to server administration and associate and professional level certifications from VMware, an American software company that provides cloud and virtualisation services.

Besides, one could also look at MOOC websites such as Coursera.org which is currently offering a course titled ‘Programming cloud services for Android handheld systems’ from Vanderblit University. The course – which is the third and final part of a sequence on mobile cloud computing for Android – will be available from July 21 onwards.
