PM Narendra Modi addresses nation on NEP 2020 first anniversary: Live Updates

"For the first time, Indian Sign Language has been given the status of a language subject. Now students will be able to read it as a language also.

This will give a big boost to Indian Sign Language, will help our Divyang companions a lot," the PM said in his address to the nation on the completion of one year of NEP 2020.

"I am glad that 14 engineering colleges in 8 states are going to start engineering studies in 5 Indian languages- Hindi-Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Bangla. A tool has also been developed for translation of engineering course into 11 Indian languages," PM Modi has said.

Under NEP 2020's Vidya Pravesh program, children and parents of remote areas will have access to playschools. "Be it rich or poor, nobody should be deprived of education," PM Modi said.

"We have seen this environment for decades when it was believed that to study well one had to go abroad. But for good studies students from abroad come to India, best institutions come to India, we are going to see this now," Prime Minister has said.

On the first anniversary occasion of the NEP 2020, PM Modi said, The generation that will reap benefits of NEP will lead our nation.

"The Artificial Intelligence program which has just been launched will also make our youth future oriented, opening the way for AI driven economy," PM Modi has said.

I believe that India's new national education policy is one of the big factors in the great sacrifice of nation building, PM Modi has said.

After launching a number of initiatives in the education sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said these programmes will have a big role in future.

PM Modi is addressing the nation on the occasion of the completion of one year of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched various key initiatives in the NEP 2020 anniversary event. Among the newly launched programs are NDEAR, NETF, first year engineering courses in regional languages.

SAFAL (Structured Assessment For Analyzing Learning Levels), a competency based assessment framework for Grades 3, 5 and 8 in CBSE schools has been launched

Vidya Pravesh, a three month play based school preparation module for Grade 1 students has been launched

Speaking on the occasion of the first anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Education Minister said it is a momentous day in our history.

The aim of the NETF will be to facilitate decision making on the induction,

deployment, and use of technology, by providing to the leadership of education institutions, State and Central governments, and other stakeholders, the latest knowledge and research as well as the opportunity to consult and share best practices.

PM Modi will address students, teachers, academicians & policymakers and launch key initiatives related to NEP today.

The NEP 2020 is the first education policy of the 21st century. Launched on July 29, 2020 it replaces the thirty-four year old National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986.
