PHFI signs a MoU with Deakin University

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and Deakin University, Australia, which outlines the effective partnership in both education and research, in the discipline area of public health, health promotion, health service management and health economics.

Dr K Srinath Reddy, President, PHFI, signed the MoU to envisage building more learning opportunities that will be beneficial in transforming public health education and practice.

This partnership will not only broaden the prospects of health research in India but would also cater to the public health challenges and concerns in the country, said Prof. Rob Carter, Chair in Health Economics School of Health and Social Development, Centre for Health through Action on Social Exclusion (CHASE) and social development, who was also present during the announcement of the partnership.

As per the MoU, the partnership is multifaceted and gives rise to new approaches to programme design and delivery. The MoU is based on potential partnership activities which will provide international experience into student courses in a variety of different ways.

These potential partnership activities would include study tours, study abroad period, use of off-campus units and research collaboration.
Director of Indian Law Institute

Dr Dharmendra S Sengar, a renowned specialist in environmental law, contracts management and arbitration, has taken over as the Director, Indian Law Institute (ILI). Dr Sengar relinquished the post of Vice-Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, to take charge of the position of Director at ILI for a period of five years.

The ILI was founded in 1956 primarily with the objective of promoting and conducting legal research. It has been granted Deemed University Status in 2004 vide Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification No. F.9-9/2001-U.3 dated 29.10.2004.
