Stanford-India biodesign fellowships in biomedical technology innovation

This highly competitive programme is directed towards Indian citizens who have an interest in the invention and early-stage development of new medical technologies (medical devices). During the fellowship, approximately half of the fellowship period will be at Stanford University and the other half shall be spent in India. Working closely with Stanford, AIIMS and IIT Delhi faculty, the teams invent, prototype, develop and patent one or more new technologies.



Fellows are also mentored by ‘real-world’ experts from the medical technology, legal and venture capital industries in the United States and India.The fellowship begins in January each year. Fellows are paid a full stipend while they are in the fellowship, although the amount varies between Stanford and Delhi. Any required tuition and health benefits will also be covered. Applicants who are admitted into the fellowship programme will need to sign a bond with the Government of India stating that they will return to India at the completion of the fellowship.



Eligibility:

Advanced degree holders with be highly preferred, their qualification may include MS, MSc, MTech, MBA, MD, MBBS and PhD. Candidates with bachelors degree and significant work experience (more than three years) may also be considered. Certification of graduation is required, as are recent test scores from admissions tests, if applicable. An excellent command of the English language is expected of the candidate.
