The atmosphere at Mount Carmel College (MCC) for Women is fun, vibrant and lively. It’s housed in a green, eco-friendly campus spread over 9.75 acres in central Bangalore. MCC, which is run by the congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of St Theresa, was founded in 1944 in Trichur. In 1999 it was awarded a five star accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and was re-accredited with an A+ in 2006. It was awarded an A in re-re-accreditation by NAAC in 2012.

MCC offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, science, commerce, business studies and management. A majority of its students have secured distinction and first class. It has 4,000 UG and PG students from India, Asia-Oceania and Africa.

“My sister was studying in Mount Carmel College, that’s how I decided to get into it. Before that, I also checked it out on the net. The teaching is good here. Another aspect is the place — Bangalore. The weather is pleasant unlike Andhra Pradesh, where I studied earlier. However, I am planning to do my master’s in Delhi,” says Coretta A Sangma, a student from Meghalaya.
