Students of Madhav Institute of Technology (MITS), Gwalior, may have answers to many of our energy problems. The students showcased their talent in an exhibition on Wind Energy.

They utilised this non-conventional source of energy to build various models. They had fans and air-conditioning systems running on wind energy. Ravi Sharma, a student, demonstrated his air-conditioning system that works with the help of wind energy.

“The model has been devised to save electricity consumed by ACs. Though the cost is more and it is more tedious to make an AC run on wind energy, the AC can last a good 50 years. May be more,” Ravi informs.

Megha Agrawal, who exhibited four models, said if her model is installed at the roof of high buildings, where the wind velocity is  very high, it could generate electricity. “We can use the model to generate electricity up to a kilowatt,” Medha says.

Besides models useful for  urban households, the students also presented models which could help villagers. Informative posters demonstrating the use of non-conventional sources of energy were also put up at the exhibition.
