UP Board 10th topper Gautam Raghuvanshi says maths is fun, scores 98 in maths, 99 in science

Gautam Raghuvanshi wants to crack IIT and then he aspires to become IAS officer and serve the country. “It is my my childhood dream to become a collector because they command huge respect,” the topper said.

Gautam Raghuvanshi, Son of a clerk in Kanpur Development Authority (KDA), has secured the first place in the UP Board high school merit list, the results for which were declared on Saturday. His father Dheeraj Kumar got emotional, when people around hugged his son for his achievement.

“It was like a dream come true as I never expected to top in the board examination,” said Gautam Raghuvanshi, a student of Onkareshwar SVN Inter College, Jawhahar Nagar, Kanpur. He scored 583 out of 600 (97.17%) to notch the first position.

Gautam scored 97 in Hindi, 98 in English, 98 in Mathematics, 99 Science, 92 social science, 99 in drawing. Normally students are scared of mathematics. “But to me mathematical problem is fun. It is my favourite subject,” he said.

Gautam wants to crack IIT and then he aspires to become IAS officer and serve the country. “It is my childhood dream to become a collector because they command huge respect,” the topper said.

He credited his success to his elder sister, Prerna Raghuvanshi who is preparing for NEET. Gautam said that he studied for 5-6 hours and is not very active on social media.

Overjoyed with Gautam’s success, the school principal Ram Milan Singh announced cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and also gave Rs 11,000 cheque for purchasing books for admission in class 11 early this month. “We are proud of him as he brought fame to the school,” the principal said.

His teacher and vice principal of the school, Uma Saxena said the child is a genius, an extra ordinarily brilliant and is an avid debater. He takes part in extra curricular activities. His mother Nirmala, a homemaker, could not hold her tears as congratulations poured in.

District inspector of school, Kanpur, Satish Kumar Tewari visited the school to congratulate Gautam for topping in the high school examination in the state.
