Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) will conduct its Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Exam (Mains) 2018, commonly called PCS (Mains)-2018, as scheduled from June 17.

The online application process for the mains exam will start soon, informed UPPSC officials. The detailed syllabus for the UPPSC mains exams will also be uploaded shortly, the officials said.

The delay in the application acceptance process and uploading of exam syllabus on the official website is causing confusion in the mind of the candidates. To clarify this confusion, UPPSC secretary Jagdish said on Friday that the exam calendar issued on December 22, 2018 by the commission showed June 17 as the scheduled date for the PCS (mains)-2018 exams. Hence, the exams will commence from June 17, 2019 itself, he added. Efforts are on to start the process of accepting online applications for the UPPSC mains, he said.

The UPPSC preliminary examination 2018 was held on October 18 last year to fill 988 posts, including that of deputy collector, deputy suprentendent of police etc. The examination was held at 1,381 examination centers spread across 29 districts of the state.

The results for the UP PCS (preliminary) exams 2018 were announced on March 20, 2019 in which 19,098 candidates were declared successful.

For the first time the exam will be conducted as per the changed pattern and syllabus. This time the mains exams will have only one optional subject instead of two like in the previous years.
