The move to introduce a single test for the MBBS course has put off many medical aspirants. Class 12 student Rahul Radhakrishnan is not sure whether to take the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in 2012. “The only good part about the single test is that we’ll not be required to buy different forms.” Says Tanvi Malik, a Class 12 medical student, “I am not sure how to prepare because there is not enough clarity on NEET. I don’t see its advantages for students. State entrances amplified our chances but a single test would mean restricted opportunities and unbearable pressure on students.”

While many students might not be too convinced with the idea of a single medical test, Ajay Antony, course director - school training programmes, TIME, is positive about it. “It’ll be good that students will be judged on a single platform.”
