Assembly Election Results 2022 highlights: The BJP has shown a dominant performance in Gujarat by winning 156 seats, thereby breaking Congress's earlier record of 149 in 1985 polls. Congress, on the other hand, has returned to power in Himachal Pradesh.

Assembly election results 2022 highlights: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has swept the 2022 Gujarat assembly election by winning in a record 156 seats. This result broke the earlier record of 149 seats set by Congress in the 1985 assembly polls. Congress, meanwhile, has been able wrest back Himachal Pradesh following a close contest with BJP, which was hoping to buck the trend in the hill state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked voters of both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh for their support in an event from the BJP headquarters in Delhi on Thusrday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ran an aggressive campaign to make inroads in PM Modi's home state but failed to make a significant impact in terms of seat share. Arvind Kejriwal's party, however, has received nearly 13% of the total votes polled and gained the status of ‘national party’.
