From CMs to Deputy CMs: Here are some of the prominent faces that bit the dust in the assembly polls.
The results for 2022 Assembly Elections held in 5 states in seven phases were declared on Thursday. The Bharatiya Janata Party swept the polls in 4 states- Uttar Pradesh, UttaraKhand, Goa and Manipur, whereas the Aam Aadmi Party witnessed a landslide victory in the state of Punjab.
The BJP retained UP with 273 of 403 seats, Uttarakhand with 47 of 70 seats, and Manipur with 32 of 60 seats. In Goa, the party is one below the magic number of 21 but has a plan in place to form the government.

Big faces that lost in Uttar Pradesh
1. Keshav Prasad Maurya (BJP)
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya lost the Uttar Pradesh Assembly poll contest to Samajwadi Party's (SP) Pallavi Patel by 7,337 votes from the Sirathu constituency in Kaushambi district on Thursday. Read more

UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu lost to BJP’s Asim Kumar from from Tamkuhi Raj seat.
3. SP Singh Baghel (BJP)

Congress leader and former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat lost the elections from Lalkuan to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Mohan Singh Bisht. Read more

Punjab incumbent chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi lost both Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaurin a major face loss for Congress. Read more
2. Parkash Singh Badal (SAD)
Veteran Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal lost to AAP's Gurmeet Singh Khudian from his traditional Lambi seat
3. Former CM Amarinder Singh
Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh lost the election in his Patiala Urban constituency to AAP's Ajit Pal Singh Kohli.
4. Navjot Singh Sidhu (Cong)
Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu lost the Amritsar East seat to Jeevanjyot Kaur of the Aam Aadmi Party by a margin of over 6,000 votes. Read more
Big faces that lost in Goa
1. Deputy CM Manohar Ajgaonkar (BJP)
Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar was defeated by Leader of Opposition and Congress candidate Digambar Kamat by a huge margin of almost 6,000 votes in the Margao Assembly constituency. Read more
2. Deputy CM Chandrakant Kavlekar (BJP)
The second Deputy Chief Minister in the Pramod Sawant-led cabinet, Chandrakant Kavlekar, lost to Congress candidate Altone D'Costa in Quepem. Kavlekar had won from Quepem in 2017 on a Congress ticket. Read more
3. Former chief minister Churchill Alemao (TMC)
Trinamool Congress father daughter duo Churchill Alemao and Valanka Alemao lost the assembly polls in Goa, on Thursday. While former CM Churchill Alemao was defeated by AAP's Venzy Viegas in Benaulim, Valanka Alemao lost to the BJP's Ulhas Tuenkar Navelim.
4. Manohar Parrikar's son Utpal Parrikar (Independent)
The BJP candidate Atanasio 'Babush' Monserrate secured the prestigious Panaji seat by defeating former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's son and independent candidate Utpal Parrikar by a margin of 700 votes.
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh took place in seven phases, beginning on February 10 and concluding on March 7. Uttarakhand and Goa voted on February 14, while Manipur went to polls on February 28 and March 5.
