With just a few days left for Gujarat and Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) to go to polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have entered in a tough fight. In Gujarat the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah, the BJP is aiming to make a comeback. However, the AAP and Congress are also running in the state. Several political leaders of the three parties have been campaigning in the state. 

Gujarat assembly elections are scheduled for December 1 and 5. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the counting of votes and announcement of the results of the Gujarat assembly elections will take place on December 8. A total of 1,621 candidates are in the fray for 182 seats in the Gujarat assembly. 

Delhi MCD polls are scheduled for December 4 and the announcement of results will take place on December 7. Of the total nominations, as many as 507 independents are present - the highest share - followed by the AAP with 492 candidates. The BJP has filed 423 candidates, Congress had fielded 334 candidates, 149 from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), 31 from the JD(U), 20 from AIMIM, and nine from the CPI(M).

Meanwhile, the results for Haryana Zilla Parishad will be announced today. The elections to 143 panchayat samitis and 22 zilla parishads were held on November 22, while the elections of panches and sarpanches of all gram panchayats were held on November 25. According to Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh, all arrangements are made for the counting of votes in the state.
