Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday accepted defeat in the hill state as the BJP won 25 seats and got dethroned. The Congress, which was leading in a majority of 68 seats, won 40 of them according to the final results released by the Election Commission of India (ECI)....Read More
The party that wins 35 seats is declared the winning party with a clean majority in the elections. In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP had won 44 seats and the Congress 21, with one seat going to CPI(M), and two to independent candidates.

Forest Minister BJP's Rakesh Pathania trails in Fatehpur
Incumbent MLA and Congress candidate Bhawani Singh Pathania and BJP's Rakesh Pathania were locked in a neck-and-neck contest in Himachal Pradesh's Fatehpur assembly seat. After trailing in the initial rounds, Bhawani Singh Pathania took a lead of 456 votes. Vote count in favour of the Congress candidate stood at 14,097 votes, compared to 13,641 votes for Rakesh Pathania.
The BJP had shifted Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania from Nurpur, which he has represented three times, to Fatehpur.

Former Himachal Pradesh Congress chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is leading by over 3,600 votes against the BJP's Vijay Kumar Agnihotri from Nadaun constituency in Hamirpur district. Of the total 15,893 votes counted so far, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu polled 9,362 against 5,756 votes for the BJP candidate.
Shankey Thukral of the Aam Aadmi Party was at a distant third with 632 votes.

Congress' incumbent MLA Anirudh Singh is leading over his nearest BJP rival Suresh Bhardwaj in the Kasumpti assembly seat in Himachal Pradesh, according to the Election Commission.

Kirpal Singh Parmar: A rebel to look out for
Kirpal Singh Parmar (Fatehpur) started as a BJP worker and rose through the ranks in the district and state units. Kirpal Singh Parmar went on to become a Rajya Sabha MP and was appointed the vice president of the state BJP. Last year, he was denied a ticket during the Fatehpur bypoll and he resigned from his post. Indu Verma: The rebel to look out for in Himachal Pradesh Election results
Indu Verma has been associated with politics for the last two decades. She is the wife of three-time MLA Rakesh Verma who passed died of a heart attack two years ago. Rakesh Verma won from the Theog constituency twice as an Independent and once on a BJP ticket.
With Indu joining the Congress in July, the party hoped to boost its chances in the Theog region as the family still has a support base in the region. But former Haryana Congress chief Kuldeep Singh Rathore lobbied for a ticket from Theog and was fielded from the constituency. The old pension scheme was discontinued on April 1, 2004, and replaced with the National Pension Scheme (NPS). In the old pension scheme, pension was 50 percent of the last drawn salary of the government employee. On the other hand, the National Pension Scheme is a contributory pension scheme. Under this scheme, the employees contribute 10 percent of their salaries towards their pensions, and the state government contributes 14 percent.

Himachal Pradesh election 2022: In Nadaun, Congress is eyeing a 4th term against BJP
The Nadaun constituency is one of the key constituencies to watch out for in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly election 2022. Nadaun is located in Hamirpur district and is a crucial seat for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as it is the home district of former BJP CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and his son and Union minister Anurag Thakur.
A total of six candidates are contesting from Nadaun in Himachal Pradesh. Congress campaign committee head Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu -- who is eyeing his fourth term from the seat -- is fighting against his arch-rival BJP’s Vijay Agnihotri who defeated him in 2012 election. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has served as state President for the Congress student wing NSUI, President of the youth wing and then the Pradesh Congress committee, and has won three elections from Nadaun in 2003, 2007 and 2012.
