The election for Humnabad seat was comfortably won by Indian National Congress's Rajshekhar defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Subhash by a huge margin of 31,814 votes.
The top three candidates split 96.3% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Rajshekhar got a total of 74,945 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Subhash secured 43,131 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate M Naseemoddin Patel grabbed the third spot with 34,280 votes. The top three parties got 47.4%, 27.3% and 21.7% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Rajashekhar Basavaraj Patil defeated Janata Dal (Secular)'s M. Naseenoddin Patel by 24,500 votes.
