In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 5 candidates in the fray from Raichur Rural constituency. Raichur Rural was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Basanagouda Daddal won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Tipparaju Hawaldar by a margin of 9,964 votes.
The top three candidates split 98.6% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Basanagouda Daddal got a total of 66,656 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Tipparaju Hawaldar secured 56,692 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate Ravi Kumar Patil grabbed the third spot with 34,250 votes. The top three parties got 41.7%, 35.5% and 21.4% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's Thipparaju defeated Indian National Congress's Raja Rayappa Naik by 3,270 votes.
