Tamil Nadu Election: Perambur Assembly Constituency 2022

Perambur is one of the 232 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Chennai district. Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2021 for Perambur was held on April 6 and the result was declared on May 2.

In 2016, the Perambur assembly seat had 2,88,901 registered voters. Of the, 1,43,844 were male and 1,45,019 were female voters. 1.1% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In 2016, 33 candidates were contesting for Perambur assembly constituency seat. Perambur was one of 134 seats won by the Dravida Munetra Kazhagam. It was an extremely close competition, with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's P Vetrivel narrowly winning the election defeating Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's N R Dhanapalan by a vary little margin of 519 votes.

85.9% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's P Vetrivel got a total of 79,974 votes, while Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's N R Dhanapalan got 79,455 votes. Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s candidate A Soundara Rajan grabbed 10,281 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 43.1%, 42.8% and 5.5% respectively.

In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Soundararajan A defeated Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's N.R.Dhanapalan by 17,423 votes.
