Ayodhya is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Faizabad district. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 for Ayodhya will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
Ayodhya assembly constituency had 3,50,971 electors in 2017, out of which 1,89,547 were male voters and 1,61,424 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.4% votes.
In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Ayodhya constituency had 14 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 312 seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Ayodhya was one of them. The election for Ayodhya seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Ved Prakash Gupta defeating Samajwadi Party's Tej Narayan Pandey Alias Pawan Pandey by a huge margin of 50,440 votes.
The top three candidates split 94.1% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Ved Prakash Gupta got a total of 1,07,014 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Tej Narayan Pandey Alias Pawan Pandey secured 56,574 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Mo. Bazmi Siddeke grabbed the third spot with 39,554 votes. The top three parties got 49.6%, 26.2% and 18.3% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Tej Narayan Pandey Alias Pawan Pandey outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Lallu Singh by 5,405 votes.
