West Bengal Election: Uttarpara Assembly Constituency 2022

Uttarpara is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Hugli district. West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 for Uttarpara will be held on April 10 and the result was declared on May 2.

In 2016, the Uttarpara assembly seat had 2,40,742 registered voters. Of the, 1,21,009 were male and 1,19,731 were female voters. 1.9% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election, there were 5 candidates in the fray from Uttarpara constituency. Uttarpara was one of 211 seats won by the Communist Party Of India (Marxist). All India Trinamool Congress's Prabir Kumar Ghosal won the election upstaging Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Prof. Dr.Srutinath Praharaj by a margin of 12,000 votes.

98.3% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. All India Trinamool Congress's Prabir Kumar Ghosal grabbed a total of 84,918 votes, while Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Prof. Dr.Srutinath Praharaj got 72,918 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Krishna Bhattacharjee bagged 23,687 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 46.0%, 39.5% and 12.8% respectively.

In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Anup Ghosal outperformed Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Prof. Dr. Srutinath Praharaj by 43,193 votes.
