Actor Aamir Khan’s star status and leviathan projects occupy most of his time, but wife Kiran Rao has no complaints, as Aamir does cull out time to spend with their little one, Azad Rao Khan.
“He (Aamir) changes nappies when he comes home in the night, and if the baby is awake... he feeds him and does whatever a dad can do,” said Rao, 38. She was in the Capital on Monday, Day 3 of the ongoing Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival of Indian, Asian and Arab Cinema, where her directorial debut, Dhobi Ghat was screened.
What next professionally? “I’m in the process of directing a script. I’m so busy with my baby, I don’t get time to write. But I’m hoping I will, now that he’s eight-months-old,” said Rao, who was also upbeat about Aamir’s TV show, Satyamev Jayate. “It’s path-breaking. I’m so proud to be associated with it.
I’m happy they have decided a second season,” she said.
For now, the Khan family is flying to the US on August 3 for three months. “Aamir will shoot for Dhoom 3 there. It’ll be a good break for us after many, many months,” said Rao.
Lastly, we asked her if she feels the pressure of being a star wife — to look glam or dress up in a certain style, and Rao replied nonchalantly with a big “No” before adding, “Look at me!”
