Guest bartenders Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen poured out cocktails at the first Fashion’s Night Out, and this year, it could just be Tommy Hilfiger.
The second annual shopping event, ‘Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out’ conceptualised by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, is planned for September 10, during the New York Fashion Week. The fashion party, which focussed on New York last year, is now going global, with nearly 1,000 retailers, designers, beauty brands and celebrities.
Events are planned in Australia, China, Greece, Russia and Turkey and India. ‘Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out’ in Delhi is being organised in association with Hindustan Times.
Shop and party
Fashion’s Night Out is held around the world simultaneously. Designer stores at the luxury mall in Delhi, DLF Emporio will be the destination to be. The event will kick off at 6 pm, and offer retail therapy till midnight. Everyone is invited. There are great discounts at each store, as Vogue India has partnered with 60 brands for the event. Free makeovers, gift hampers and styling tips from Vogue editors are another advantage.
All over the place
Fashion capitals around the world, from London to Paris, New York to New Delhi and Beijing to Milan, will see a coming-together of Vogue editors, designers, brands and celebrities to celebrate the fashion industry at this gala affair. The limited edition Fashion’s Night Out T-shirts, designed by Manish Arora and Rajesh Pratap Singh for Vogue India will also be up for grabs. Proceeds from sales will go to Habitat for Humanity’s Women India BUILDS programme.
New York highlights
A designer dog catwalk at Bergdorf Goodman, recreating red-carpet moments with Marchesa and Frederic Fekkai at Henri Bendel, supermodel posing lessons from Bar Rafaeli at Giorgio Armani, and a 25th anniversary party celebrating Naomi Campbell’s career at Dolce & Gabbana — these are the highlights of the NY chapter of the event. Campbell has also committed to sign T-shirts.
Other boldface names with scheduled appearances include Bryan Adams, Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige and many others. And, on September 7, Fashion’s Night Out plans the largest public fashion show ever held in New York, featuring 150 models and current-season fashion selected by Vogue editors. It will be held at Lincoln Center.
