Following Alia and Ranbir’s baby announcement, celebs like Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar, as well as the couple’s families – mothers Neetu Kapoor and Soni Razdan, and sisters Shaheen Bhatt and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni – shared their joy in social media posts. However, days before Alia and Ranbir made headlines for their baby news, Ranbir had narrated an event that happened before he married Alia.
In a conversation with Mashable, Ranbir Kapoor spoke about a fan, who married the ‘gate’ of his Mumbai residence, Vastu. The actor said he was informed about the incident by the security guard of the building. Ranbir said the fan came with a priest and put a 'teeka' on the building's gate.
"There was a girl and I never met her. But my watchman told me that she came with a pundit (priest) and she married my gate. There was some teeka (a mark generally made using vermilion or turmeric for religious ceremonies) on the gate, and some flowers too. So, that’s quite crazy," Ranbir said.
Ranbir also joked that she was his ‘first wife’, although he had never met her in person. "Haven’t met my first wife yet, so I look forward to meeting you at some point,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ranbir is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Shamshera, which also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. The movie, which would mark his comeback to the big screen after the 2018 film Sanju, is releasing in theatres on July 22. In his next, Brahmastra, Ranbir and Alia will be seen together for the first time. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy.
