The Capital can’t get enough of Virat Kohli and Kevin Pieterson. As Delhi Daredevils fought Mumbai Indians to sweep the Indian Premier League match in Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday, we got to the task of finding out which IPL cricketers are Delhi’s darlings. While our poll among 300 young Delhiites revealed that South African-English batsman for Delhi Daredevils Kevin Pieterson, 31, was the hottest choice with 40% votes, angry young man Virat Kohli, 23, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore, came a close second with 35%. They were followed by Morne Morkel, 27, of Rajasthan Royals, with an 18% share. The rest of the 7% votes largely went to Mumbai Indians’ Sachin Tendulkar, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Shaun Marsh and Deccan Chargers’ Cameron White.

“Kevin is just so hot ... he’s one of the main reasons I went to the (Friday) match,” says Neha Vij, 18. “No one’s hotter than Pieterson this season,” says Vamini Sethi, 26, senior manager with a life insurance firm. Pietersen also charmed the city’s girls when he visited a university in Delhi last week.

Meanwhile, Kohli, too, has the girls bowled over with his rash style. “Smoky hot and icy cool too ... puff puff ... fumes!” writes Manisha Mallick on our Facebook page. “He has the right passion and aggression... He could be India’s next Tendulkar,” says Preet Chhatwal, 26, corporate banker. In Morkel’s case, it’s his gentlemanly manner that’s spinning magic. “He has this soft yet strong aura about him,” says 21-year-old Himani Singh.
