Actor Amitabh Bachchan does not take kindly to talks of a ‘renewal’ of AB Corp Ltd through Paa.

He may have won the heart of the nation through his portrayal of the progeria afflicted Auro in Paa, but actor Amitabh Bachchan says he never expected such an overwhelming response to the film. “I never ever imagined that Auro would be picked up, caressed and so warmly embraced. It is miraculous,” Bachchan said.”

Made at a budget of about Rs 15 crore, the film is being seen as the reason for the revival of of AB Corp Ltd, which produced the film. Bachchan, however, disagrees, and reacts rather strongly to the suggestion. by R.Balakrishnan not only got favourable reviews from critics but is also doing well at the box office. “Please do not keep up this undesired exclamation of the ‘renewal’ of the company. We were always there and functioning. Maybe you did not follow its activities. Or perhaps there was not much desire in you to do so,” says Bachchan. “At the moment, we have not concretised any further project under our banner, but if we were to, we would keep you informed.”

Bachchan is keen on taking up equally “exciting” roles in the future as well. “I have no idea what it would be (my next role). I do hope that there are directors out there who will dream up exciting work for me. If they do I shall be more than willing to work along with them.” Although Bachchan is aware that “people want more of Auro”, he explains why the film ended on the tragic note of the character’s death. “I think Balki (director Balakrishnan) felt his presence was sufficiently enough.”

Before signing off, the actor makes sure to give those behind Auro’s character due credit. “Without the team that worked on my make-up, Auro would have remained on the drawing board,” he says.
