Stacks of boxes filled with celebratory T-shirts for the birth of the royal baby are waiting to be opened at London’s Heathrow Airport, and distributed to arriving passengers.
To celebrate the arrival of the royal heir and the third in line to the throne, the London airport hub will be issuing purple T-shirts to the first 1,000 passengers arriving at each terminal, emblazoned with the words, ‘Celebrating a Very Special New Arrival.’
Passengers will also be given a gift box containing Twinings Tea and Walkers shortbread cookies.
The world’s paparazzi has been camped outside the London hospital, where Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, is expected to give birth in some time now. And though bookies are having a heyday, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, hinted that the most anticipated birth of the year is due for the end of the week.
In another royal tie-up, Heathrow airport announced plans to christen Terminal 2, which is slated to open next year, as ‘The Queen’s Terminal’.
Meanwhile, Brits and tourists alike can be sure that once the baby arrives, souvenir makers will flood the market with commemorative items, trinkets and baubles emblazoned with the child’s name. So far, however, they have to content themselves with generic phrases like ‘royal baby.’
