Delhi-based organisations are doing their bit to get the surplus food from private functions out to the needy. One such, is the AWB Food Bank, which accepts food from weddings and distributes it to various shelters and schools in the city. “We don’t have the facility to go to every marriage venue and collect food. But, wedding parties can get in touch with us,” says Anil Kumar, a volunteer with the bank.

Kumar adds that their only conditions are that the food should be fresh and vegetarian. “We also collect food from 5-star hotels because they are very particular about packaging and ensuring that the food quality is good,” he adds. The bank can be contacted at: 09810804122
