“With every film I do, you can’t link me up with my co-star, it’s not like changing clothes every day. A girl cannot have a new boyfriend with every film that she does. It’s not possible,” laughs Sonakshi, adding that if she doesn’t react to a rumour, she feels it dies down faster.
“It’s something which I have stopped reacting to and it is better that way. Every rumour has its life and goes away when people are bored. And if they don’t get a reaction out of me, then I guess, the rumour automatically goes away.”
The 27-year-old says that friendship between industry colleagues is often misunderstood. “It really is. Earlier, I would be affected by it. But now, I think it makes no sense. How long can I go on thinking that if I step out with a certain person, I will be clicked and linked with him?” she asks. She adds that she sees no logic in the entire theory.
“We live in a free country and a liberal world today, and it’s ridiculous if people believe that if two actors are seen together translates into them dating. I don’t think I should be dealing with this kind of pressure. I am working, but I also have a life. And I have friends, who I will be seen with,” she says.
