The Kolkata Knight Riders of the Indian Premiere League have found a solution to their deteriorating performance — the colour of the team’s jerseys. What the new combination will be, Shah Rukh Khan the owner of the team did not disclose, but he did say that it was one of the unlucky charms for the team.
“Yes, there is a new jersey this season. There are a lot of beliefs why the team did not do well, starting from the coaching staff, the kind of set up, and training methods among others,” said Shah Rukh Khan.
The new jersey, that may or may not have the black and gold colour combination, will be designed by Manish Malhotra, and will be one of the new additions to the team, apart from training methods, the coaching staff and a new administrational structure.
“This is the year I will be hands-off with the team. The mistake I made was that I felt if I spoke to the team,
would happen,” said Khan. “But what I did not realise is that the kids who I was talking to were 12 year olds when they watched
… so they were always overawed by me.”
When asked whether he was partaking in the rumoured belief of the jersey being unlucky, he explained, how that would cost him more than just the colour of his team.
“I’m not superstitious, I thought the black and gold was the only thing working for us, but since everyone agreed on change, we went ahead with it. If this new colour works for the team, all my films will also be of that colour,” said Khan, laughing.
For my family
Meanwhile, during the star’s recuperating time from his shoulder injury, he has joined the league of
— the reality television show shot in 1970, where MTV was given unlimited and undeterred coverage of Ozzy Osbourne’s twisted life.
Discovery Travel and Living’s

Living With A Superstar
, has similarly captured candid moments of the actor’s life, over the last year, through his family vacations, film shoots, IPL dealings and more. “When the idea was thought of, it was thought of with Shah Rukh Khan in mind, so we might have more of its type but no shows with any other actor have been finalised yet,” said Rajiv Bakshi, director of marketing and communications,
Defending allegations of being called a marketing genius and politically correct public figure, Shah Rukh Khan’s reasons for doing this show were different. “These days no one sits their children down to tell them how they feel about them. I felt they (my family) should know what I feel about them. Being a movie star, there is a strange part of my life that my family does not know. I’m strangely formal with them,” said Khan.
Being the actor of the stature that he is of, living beneath the glare of the lens is a part of his profession, but his two young children did take some time to settle to being documented for one entire year.
“If the camera is not on, I don’t work,” he said, laughing. “Initially my kids were shy, but over the years, they have accepted the fact that cameras are a part of our life; honestly, this documentary was not intrusive. If it were, they would say switch it off. And it is not physically intrusive either; after all, they have zoom lenses now,” he concluded.
