It’s time to deliver
DUSU elections are over and it’s time for the winners to take action.entertainment Updated: Sep 07, 2010 02:47 IST
The election fever is finally over in Delhi University (DU). And after an election season that could best be described as lackluster in comparison to previous years, students have finally chosen the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), office bearers.
Although those in power have promised lots of things, students want more than mere promises from their chosen representatives.
“Since the elections are over, the winning political parties and candidates should all throw big parties for students. That’s the big thing, which was missing from this year’s elections,” says Jasmeet Singh, a first year student of Khalsa College.
Others are keen on better places where they can unwind and chill out with their friends.
“Our office bearers should try to make South Campus as happening as North Campus. Maybe few cafes and cool hangout places will do the trick. Who else will do it for us if not these guys,” says Siddharth Abbi, a first year student of Ram Lal Anand College.
For the foodies
Since there are only a handful of canteens in the University that can boast of an extensive menu or sumptuous food, students feel it’s about time DU’s food joints get a facelift.
“Our office bearers should urge the authorities to change our cafeteria menu. It should contain cuisines from all around the world,” says Amit Barua, final year student Bhagat Singh College.
Others want a cleaner campus. “They should clean the campus of all the posters they put up during the elections. A safer campus where girls can wear whatever and not be stared at is also desirable,” says Ekta Maheshwari, a second year student from Kalindi College.
