Director Sudhir Mishra’s long-stalled film Inkaar, which was earlier scheduled to release alongside Shirish Kunder’s debacle, Joker, has been further pushed and will now release on January 18.

An insider from the production house reveals that Arjun Rampal, who plays the lead, however, wanted the film to release before his Prakash Jha directed movie Chakravyuh, which releases on October 24. “Arjun is upset with the postponed release as he was hoping that Inkaar would release before Chakravyuh,” says the insider. In Inkaar (produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures), Arjun plays the suave CEO of an advertising agency. “The film shows him as a slick personality, which he feels is close to his real-life persona. Arjun thinks that if this film had come out before Chakravyuh, it would have helped build his image in the public eye,” explains the insider. The actor played a stereotypical Bollywood star in his last release, the Kareena Kapoor-starrer Heroine.

Chakravyuh takes him to a completely different zone, where he plays an IPS officer deputed to bring order to a Maoist-dominated area.
