Latifah finds chatting with dead brother therapeutic!
The actor Queen Latifah shares beer and chats with her dead brother whenever pressures of stardom get too much for her.
Rapper-turned-actress Queen Latifah has revealed that she takes off to her native New Jersery to share a beer and chat with her dead brother when the pressures of stardom get too much for her.
The star admitted that she finds peace in the cemetery where her late brother Lance, who was killed in a motorcycle accident when her career was taking off, is buried.
Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, said that talking to her late brother always seemed to ease the pressure and make her feel better.
"Sometimes things happen so fast for us, this whole stardom thing, and my anonymity was starting to be gone and it would get heavy sometimes. So I would go up to where my brother was buried and sit on the ground, look at the sky, talk to God, drink a brew, talk to Winky (brother's nickname), cry, laugh, pray and then I would be alright after a while and I'd be ready to fight some more." Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
And while some people might get goosebumps at the very thought of a cemetery, the actress says that it s the only place she can be close to her brother.
"It's hard because it's the only cemetery that I don't feel uncomfortable or spooked by because so many of my family members are in this place and my brother s there, and it's, like, the closest I can get to him," she added.
