Get ready to roll over in laughter this weekend as Mumbai-based stand up comics Ashish Shakya, Tanmay Bhat and Rohan Joshi join Delhi-based Rajneesh Kapoor, to bring Mumbai meets Dilli, a night of stand-up comedy in both the Capital and Gurgaon.
Joshi and Bhat open regularly for actor and stand-up comic Vir Das, and are also a part of his improv team, Cardinal Bengans. All four comedians in Mumbai meets Dilli are regular performers at the Comedy Store in Mumbai. “This bunch from Mumbai was very keen to come to Delhi and make fun of the Jaat aggression, all in good humour, of course,” says Kapoor.
According to the group, their acts are a take on ‘just about everything’. The humour in their acts is observational, political, sexual and incorrigible. “Our humour is young, urban and smart,” says Shakya. “We do jokes, lots of Delhi-Mumbai jokes,” adds Kapoor. “Compared to the other three, I’m repulsive. I’m the comic you shouldn’t be writing about,” says Bhat.
The group is looking forward to perform for Delhiites. “They are nice and loud, and they laugh at the right places,” says Shakya. As to what will be the special features of the show, Joshi says, “One, we have a completely fresh perspective on all things Indian. Second, it’s an English stand-up comedy about India. Third, we’re very sexy!”
