Tell us about the TV show Rishta.com, and the film Pyaar Impossible you are doing for Yash Raj Films (YRF).
I’m actually happy for the banner (YRF) and excited about the entire bouquet of shows that starts from January 1. My role in Rishta.com is a guest appearance that runs into two to three episodes.

You’ll find me on the show with several others from the film fraternity somewhere half-way through the shows run. I’m also directing Pyaar Impossible for them (YRF), my next after Roadside Romeo. The company has always supported me in my endeavors.

Meanwhile, you’ve been striving hard to establish your career as a director...
I am. (Smiles) Pyaar Impossible is my second project as a director and you can call it a first because it’s my first feature film. We’re ready with the film and it releases on January 8. I have my toes and fingers crossed. I hope that leaves a smile on the audiences’ faces.

As an actor, Mohabbatein came as a milestone. Do you agree you didn’t cash in on its response?
Honestly, I had signed up 14 films with top banners, most of them after Mohabbatein, in 2000. All of them didn’t see the light of the day. So, I guess I’d put it down to plain bad luck. I wish those films had happened.

Pyaar Impossible , it’s believed, is Uday Chopra’s interpretation of his relationship with Tanisha Mukherji (actress Kajol’s sister).
Pyaar Impossible has nothing to do with any personal relationships of Uday or anyone else in the family. It’s a lighthearted romantic film about a beauty and a geek. I’ve never enjoyed working on a project so much as I have on Pyaar...

Was it difficult dealing with Uday Chopra, given that he is the producer, the storywriter and the leading man of Pyaar Impossible?
Actually, it helped. It was the biggest advantage to have one of my best friend (Uday Chopra) write, produce and act in the film. Being close friends, we were on the same wavelength throughout the making of this film.
