Grossing $761,000 on Sunday, the highest one-day gross ever for any Hindi-language film in North America, Shah Rukh Khan starrer "My Name Is Khan" is on a record-breaking spree at the box office.

Karan Johar directed film was initially expected to drop by 7 per cent over Saturday to $682,000. But it performed better than expected on Sunday grossing $761,000 for a four percent increase.

The Fox Searchlight release's revised opening weekend figure for February 12-14 now stands at $1,939,000, still a new all-time record for a Hindi film beating the $1,764,131 of 2007's Om Shanti Om.

Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, MNIK averaged a stellar $16,158 from 120 theaters across the United States and Canada over three days. Theatres across the country have reported sold-out shows and have had to turn moviegoers away.

My Name Is Khan is estimated to gross $336,000 on Monday, Presidents' Day, bringing the estimated four-day opening weekend figure to $2,275,000. This makes the Karan Johar film the fastest Hindi film ever to break the $2,000,000 mark beating the previous record of 5 days set in December by 3 Idiots which grossed $2,149,227 in its five-day opening over the Christmas holiday weekend.

MNIK also generated the highest per-theatre average of any film in North American release this weekend.
