New Spidey wanting for fans

As news of a relatively unknown actor Andrew Garfield being signed on to play the next Spiderman spreads, the one question on everyone’s mind is: “Who is this guy?”
Best known for his role in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the British actor has come as a surprise choice to many, including Spidey fans in India.
“I thought they were signing Robert Pattinson for the flick,” says Shreya Sinha, 19.
Major entertainment websites expressed surprise at Garfield replacing Tobey Maguire for the new film, which will focus on Spidey’s early years. “I’m not a superhero fan… I watched the films just for Tobey,” said Kritika Mehta, 22.
Garfield was named as ‘10 actors to watch’ in 2007 by Variety magazine. He made his modelling debut in Vogue in 2009. He has appeared in the critically acclaimed TV drama Boy A, which fetched him a BAFTA. While his fan page on Facebook has 2,148 members, the group ‘We want Tobey Maguire on Spider-Man 4’ has 3,126 members.
