Following her split from restaurant owner J.T. Torregiani last year, the twice-wed 46-year-old has been single, reports Contactmusic.

Abdul tells OK! magazine, "I tried marriage and it didn''t work too well for me, but I would very much like to find a soulmate.

“I look at couples like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell and see what I would like to have: a beautiful lasting relationship that doesn't require a piece of paper."

And kids are in her plans too: "I''d love to have children with that soulmate. Adoption is definitely an option."

Abdul was married to actor Emilio Estevez from 1992 to 1994 and Brad Beckerman from 1996 to 1997.
