Rihanna slammed for promoting rape in video

Rihanna's latest music video Man Down, in which she guns down her alleged rapist in a crowded public space and then leaves the scene, has come under attack from activists at a TV parents group.



The Parents Television Council has condemned the video and said that it depicted the singer in an "implied rape scene with a man whom she later guns down in an act of premeditated murder."



"Rihanna's personal story and status as a celebrity superstar provided a golden opportunity for the singer to send an important message to imprimatur of acceptability," Henson added.

Besides the ‘PTC’, media justice think tank Industry ‘Ears’, as well as the ‘Enough Is Enough’ Campaign, are also blasting the video, which female victims of rape and domestic violence," the ABC News quoted Melissa Henson, director of communications and public education for the Parents Television Council, as saying in a news release.



"Instead of telling victims they should seek help, Rihanna released a music video that gives retaliation in the form of premeditated murder the debuted on BET on Tuesday night.
