Shah Rukh is like family: Sanjay Dutt
Salman got miffed with Sanjay when he refused a role in Bodyguard, but agreed to do a cameo in Shah Rukh's RA.One. And then, he invited SRK for dinner. Sanjay talks to Priyanka Jain about his equation with the two Khans.entertainment Updated: Aug 01, 2011 12:45 IST
Sanjay Dutt insists there is no truth to stories of a reported fight between him and Salman Khan. He says, “These reports are rubbish. Salman is my younger brother. After the supposed fight, I shot the Big Boss promo with him. Do you work with someone so coolly after a fight?”
The supposed spat broke out at Maanyata’s surprise birthday bash, held at Sanjay’s sister Namrata’s house at Pali Hill on July 21. Salman had allegedly refused to address Maanyata as ‘bhabhi’ (sister-in-law), which didn’t go down too well with Sanjay. The Dabangg star was miffed that his pal Sanjay had refused to play the role of his father in the upcoming Bodyguard, but agreed to do a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s superhero project RA.One.
Interestingly, Sanjay hadn’t invited SRK for the birthday party, choosing instead to host a private dinner for him and wife Gauri a few days later. Sanjay explains his decision, saying, “Shah Rukh is like family. Why can’t I invite him over for dinner?”
Sanjay says, “Even if we do quarrel, it will be like a fight between brothers. We always come back together. I have known Salman since he was young. Salim saab (Salman’s father) was writing dialogues for Naam (1986), so I used to go to their house. At that time, Salman was grooming himself to be an actor. There is a special bond between us, it could have something to do with our past lives.”
The duo have worked together earlier in Saajan (1991) and Chal Mere Bhai (2000) among others, and plan to co-produce and act in a film together along with Ajay Devgn soon.
Ask about his TV debut and Dutt says, “I will start shooting for Bigg Boss with Salman in September. I am nervous about my innings on television. I think I am going to enjoy it, but I haven’t prepared so I’ll go there and figure it out.”
