If you are Anna, here’s another movement you may want to join. Twenty-four-year-old DJ Jenny D, who has a Facebook campaign called ‘Fight the casting couch’ after she was inspired by Hazare, says someone needs to take charge of cleaning up Bollywood.
“We need an Anna Hazare in Bollywood to fight the casting couch. Everyone is looking up to him because being a common man, he is doing something for the people — the entire government machinery is bending before him. So, I thought, why not do something for this cause too, so that women can showcase their talent in the industry without being afraid,” says the Mumbai-based DJ.
Jenny, who was earlier in the news for doing a nude shoot with just the Tricolour wrapped around her, has launched the campaign in collaboration with Citizens Action Forum, an NGO. This time, she’s done a topless shoot with the words, ‘Me Anna Hazare’ inked on her back. She says she’d wanted to start this campaign long ago, but it was only Hazare’s movement that brought out the courage in her.
“I have faced the casting couch myself. You can’t go to someone asking for work without running the risk of being asked to compromise,” she says. Jenny’s shoot is in two parts — the first in which she has been molested, and the second in which she finds inspiration in Hazare and decides to fight back. She has also written to Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal, asking them to support her.
