Telugu actor Ram Charan Teja, who got engaged to girlfriend and Apollo heiress Upasana Kamineni, in a grand ceremony earlier this week, says getting engaged has changed him.

“I feel more responsible now. I am totally enjoying this phase... Not sneaking out of the house anymore... I feel stress free,” says the son of veteran Telugu actor Chiranjeevi.

The couple’s love story is also no less than a fairytale.

“It’s a love marriage. We were best friends for eight years and then we dated for a year,” says the 26-year-old actor, who himself designed his fiancee’s engagement ring.

Teja also took every possible steps to make the day special.

“I was very subtle about everything I did that day because I wanted her to stand out. I was not in the country before the engagement, and I didn’t know what was happening, but she was very calm about everything,” he says.

Has Kamineni got used to the limelight? “I think she will get used to it. She is not very comfortable right now, but she does not have a choice,” he laughs.

Now his fans are eager to know about the wedding date. “It will be early next year. Both the families would be issuing a joint press statement,” he says.

Speculation that a host of Bollywood stars will perform at the wedding is also rife. However, he dismisses the rumour.

“We would like it if all these people attend as guests, not to perform.”
