She’s the hottest style diva, a trend setter who’s graced the covers of prestigious fashion magazines. And yet, Kareena Kapoor’s latest avatar, as the brand ambassador for a Pakistani fabric label, has left many wondering if she’s lost it.

Since last month, Kareena aka Bebo, has been peeping out of hundreds of billboards across Pakistan wearing a range of gawdy salwar kameezes and dresses in awkwardly photographed posters.

Firdous Lawn, Pakistan’s leading textile brand, reportedly paid the actress Rs 3 crores to be their face. The actress, who wore 40 dresses, mainly prints, for the shoot, had expressed happiness in an earlier interview. “I’m really impressed with the quality of designs which were presented to me,” she said.

However, these shoot photos that have now found their way to many websites and forums in Pakistan have designers, as well as fans, surprised at the mismatch of Kareena’s image with the ‘look’. “These suits seem outdated on someone as contemporary as Kareena. Guess she did it as just another photo shoot and not as her personal style statement,” says designer Preeti Chandra. Designer Rina Dhaka feels Kareena would never wear such clothes in real life. “She has done this only for the money,” says Dhaka.

Fashion photographers, too, echo the view. “They are unpleasing pics, it seems like a job done in a hurry. The hair and make up is not proper even the crease on the clothes is visible... the angles are bad for Kareena,” says celeb photographer Hemant J Khendilwal. “Kareena aur Lawn, ajeeb sa combo hai,” comments Neha, a blogger.

The actress and the brand owners did not respond to the queries on the matter.
