For football fan Varun Dhawan, meeting French star Robert Pires at an event was an experience that turned him — and cricketer Virat Kolhi — into fanboys when they shared the stage with Robert.

“I had a great time with Robert, who I have always been a big fan of. We spoke at length about India, our food, films, sports and historical places etc. He was excited about his first visit to India. In fact, he told me that I am the first Bollywood star he has met personally,” says Varun.

The actor is the brand ambassador of the Goa-based club that Robert will represent at an upcoming football tournament.

Varun adds that both, he and Virat, are long-time fans of the ex-Arsenal star.

“It was great hanging out with Virat, since we have known each other for a while now. As for Robert, don’t forget that both Virat and I are young, so we have grown up watching a lot of Robert's games. We literally acted like his fanboys. It was great to play a little [football] with him on the stage,” says Varun, who has been busy with Remo D’Souza’s film.
