Actor Anushka Sharma decided to forego a dreamy lehenga or voluminous gown at her Delhi reception in favour of a more Indian textile-and-handloom-friendly look by wearing a Benarasi sari, designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. If you thought actor Anushka Sharma’s wedding lehenga was a dream, wait until you see her reception look. The actor and cricketer Virat Kohli’s wedding reception was on Thursday, and all eyes were on the bride and her festive sari. But how did her red sari compare to the pink lehenga she wore for her super-secretive destination wedding in Italy?

For the big night in Delhi, Anushka opted for a seriously impressive tomato red and gold Benarasi sari, also by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who designed the memorable embellished pale pink lehenga for her Tuscan wedding on December 11: But that is where the similarities end.

We take a closer look at the two very different Sabyasachi outfits the bride wore in one of the most talked-about weddings of 2017. (All photos: Instagram)

The outfit...

The whimsical bridal lehenga Anushka wore for her lavish nuptials on December 11 left a permanent mark on our fashion memories. Who can forget her voluminous pale pink skirt with fairytale-esque embroidery that was embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads?

With her traditional reception look, Anushka gave us another great fashion moment. We can’t help but fall in love with her heavy brocade weave -- a change from the dramatically embellished lehengas or gowns that brides are known to opt for on their big night.

The jewellery...

Anushka completed her pale pink bridal look with traditional jewellery: A mathapatti, layered necklaces -- including an uncut diamond, baroque Japanese cultured pearls and pale spinel choker -- jhumkas in jadau, pearls and pink spinel.

The Phillauri star accessorised her understated, classic sari look with an opulent uncut diamond choker and jhumkas from the Sabyasachi Bridal Jewelry collection.

The beauty look...

To complement her princess-like bridal ensemble Anushka chose playful, but polished hairstyle and make-up. While rocking simple make-up -- a nude lip and kohl rimmed eyes -- she wore a whimsical, edgy and romantic updo, adorned with a bouquet of Tuscan hydrangeas in white.

Diving straight into a Bengali-esque bridal look for her reception, Anushka chose heavily kohled eyes, nude lips and dewy make-up, with her hair tied in a sleek bun. The red bindi, the sindoor and the mogras in her hair just made the look more potent.
