How to apply nail paint

Paint your nail in the right way. Here are some tips as how to put nail paint on your nails.

Gather your tools: Choose your nail polish and ensure that it is not too dry. Get a cuticle cutter, a nail filer, some cotton strips or earbuds and nail polish remover or thinner.

Ready your nails: Remove the old nail polish and soak your hands in hot water for a few minutes in order to soften your nails.

Shape them right: Apply some cream on your hands, but not on your nails. Use a cuticle pusher to push back your cuticles. Also, if your nails need to be cut or shaped, do it before you start applying nail polish.

The application process: Switch off the fan as it tends to make the polish thicker. Apply in even straight lines and avoid overlaps. In case colour runs on to your skin, wipe it away from the corners with an earbud — that way you won’t get polish on the other fingers. Apply a top coat first, and only when it dries, apply a second coating.

Let them dry: Don’t keep tapping your nails to check if the polish has dried. Give it a good 10 minutes.
