With only male models on the runway at Van Heusen India Men’s Week that concluded on Sunday, the make-up experts complained of a dull routine. While artists have to work hard on female models (looking at details like hairstyling and lipstick shades), with men, the focus chiefly shifts to the six-pack abs.

Beauty expert Samantha Kochhar says, “Grooming for men is more about pre-event preparations. They need to work out a lot and if they go for waxing, that too, is done in advance.”

Make-up artist Ambika Pillai says, “It takes seven minutes on each female model during a fashion week. On a man, the touch-up takes less than a minute. Male models need make-up only on their bare chest to enhance their abs.” Pillai adds, “All I expect from the gym-freak male models is to be sweat and stench-free, when they enter the make-up room.”
